A dose of encouragement

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

Rob Siltanen

“Who do you think you are”

“You got a ego.”

“You got attitude.”

Sometimes I get called these things. I don’t care. Or say thank you for noticing (to further sarcastically confirm that I don’t care). They are not going to make me who they want to be (and likewise, I accept them for who they are as well!) When you are trying to do cool things, stop asking for permission. We need more people to have the fortitude to keep going with their dreams, and not let others talk them out of it.

Just go for it.

I mention this in the article above.

When you are trying to go against the status quo and think outside the box, people don’t understand it.

Creatives, entrepreneur and everyone in between friends. It means that there will be times when you can’t be as available as others would like you to be.

You Learn to handle a level of stress that would break most people.

This is something most people can’t accept. Most people, being employees themselves, don’t really understand the level of commitment, focus, and obsession an entrepreneur or a creative person needs to have.

Friends and family might tell you that you are obsessed with your business or creative activities.

“OMG YOU SPEND TOO MUCH TIME IN THE RECORDING STUDIO. Why NOT SPEND TIME WITH MEEEE.’’’

They might even try to make you feel guilty about all the time you’re spending on your business or works, and away from them.

It happened to me. And I still kept pushing forward. My response? I’m doing my purpose and living life on my own terms, and if you don’t like it? Tough. No one is going to talk me out of my dreams. After all, I’m not going to talk you out of yours.

Or.

I’m not suffocating your time, why are you trying to suffocate mine? You’re not directing blaming them. But you are getting them to explain themselves (read How to Make Friends and Influence People, people do not like to be told they are wrong or admit to being wrong. )

or watch this video. There are tips in here that works.

But if you’re extreme, you must be what you are, which means that happiness is more or less beside the point. These people tend to be freaks and misfits who were forced to experience the world in an unusually challenging way. They developed strategies to survive, and as they grow older they find ways to apply these strategies to other things, and create for themselves a distinct and powerful advantage. They don’t think the way other people think. They see things from angles that unlock new ideas and insights. Other people consider them to be somewhat insane.- Justine Musk

In entrepreneurship, you better get used to not being liked and being misunderstood.

We will fail in ways that other people won’t, we learn things that other people don’t and never will. We have incredible grit and resilience.

As a creative, most people won’t support you at the beginning, (if ever).

As a top performer, understand that people will get intimated, and try to sabotage you. You do good and leave a legacy anyways.

Got supporters? Your tribe? Keep them! If you need a sounding board I’m here for you.

I get called names all the time. And who cares! Remember they wouldn’t bother you if you were nothing.
