Have A Ton Of Ideas? Use These Tricks To Narrow Them Down

Are you an idea machine?

Do you say “ah ha, I have an idea.”

Then tell family and friends.

Then you work on it non-stop for infinity and beyond.

Then you get really excited. You release it and expect it to run like the wind Bull eye (notice all the Toy Story references here).

Only to find out that you wasted time and money.

Being Gemini, totally guilty of this in school.

Here’s what I use nowadays to narrow down ideas. If my Gemini ways come back and I stray? I find my way back again.

A: Figure Out What Your Talents Are. Keep A Record Of This.

If you don’t know what you are good at, ask the people who you are closest to. Have you helped them with a challenging task? Ask them what you are good at?

Start making a note of it and keep it in a safe place.

Are you having doubts that someone would pay you to tutor/teach them to dance/cook?

*********************Food For Thought Moment*********************

How many times have you paid someone to drive you to hang out with your friends (uber/taxi)? How many times have you purchased coffee? How many times were you charged for food deliveries? How many times have you taken your car to get a tire change?

How many people have you paid people to perform a service for you? EXACTLY. We pay for services that other people provide, yet we think that we can’t charge for the services we provide.

Are you organized?

Do you take photos or create videos?

Do you raise funds?

You have a talent that others have no clue about and you could potentially get paid for!

*******************Food For Thought Moment Over******************

When I come up with an idea for an app or business, I write it down in my phone. I’ll share a few of my ideas for example purposes.

Are these skills your passions? Put an asterisk next to the ideas that is your favorite!

B. Find Your Crowd

My ideas for the purposes of this article: Pet Sitting, Fitness (Workout Regime With Meal Plan), English tutoring, and Cooking

Ok, for petting sitting, I could have lower prices for my services and try to target many people (For example, I could go to my Gemini tendency and try to get 1,000 and charge each of them $100 each). I can target higher paying clients and have fewer of them (I can have 10–15 higher paying clients and charge them $1,500 each). I could also have lower prices and few clients (for example, have 4 clients and charge them each $250)

Same for the writing course and the other ideas.

Figure out what type of product you want to offer.

High End Products?

Lower End Products?

Do you want high paying customers?

Do you want low paying customers?

DO you want to target a lot of people? Or a few people?

C. Pick One Field. (Geminis, this is hard on us haha).

Pick one field that is flexible (and preferably something that is your passion). Meaning you can create more content, services and products from it.

For example, if I pursued pet sitting, I could pet sit just for a few select higher paying clients. I could also offer another service while the owners are not on vacation: I could walk their dogs while they are at work. If the owner is interested in alternate healthy food choices for their pet, I could even create a PDF on cooking homemade dog food recipes and sell the book. If the owners wanted to pay me to create homemade dog food and deliver it to them I could. I could even have a photography business where I can take pictures of the pet for birthdays, holidays and special occasions. I can even throw a pet birthday party. I can go as far as being a pet massage (I would have to see if they want the service first and see if my state allows it).

Do you see how many potential ideas I came up with just from pet sitting?

This is just for the beginning of the “idea” process. (Just for the record, I wouldn’t try to target 1000 people, I would target the right clients instead, I wrote this article based on getting your ideas out of your head and on paper, like brainstorming. I especially wrote it for us Gemini’s out there). The next steps includes using a step by step system to see if the idea will actually be profitable. That’s a whole other article.
