I Worked Out Once This Month. How Come I Don’t Have Abs?

You and I both know how pitiful this title sounds. Nobody would expect to work out twice and look like this.

Yet some of us look at someone else’s results and go “what’s the shortcut?” “What’s the magic bullet?”.

It is a hilarious phenomenon that we look at others and compare our Day 1 with their Day 1000. How many times have you looked at someone else and say: “I could never look like that. I’m just a skinny girl.” “I don’t have time to work out, when I come home from work I’m just too stressed out from work.”

Do you remember Zac Efron from High School Musical? Same dude! He wasn’t as ripped then! In his Instagram post, he said it took months and months to prepare for that moment.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many people ask me about my abs, “You’re so lucky,” “You’re a washboard. Luck has nothing to do with it. I’ve been working out since I’ve been 15 years old. It takes a daily dedicated disciplined system that I follow everyday. If I told you everything I did, more in likely you wouldn’t start because you might come up with more reasons why you can’t do it versus why you can. You don’t have to great to start, but you do have to start to be great.

And if you did start when I told you the pointers? Good for you!

Someone’s going to do it. Why should it be someone else? Why shouldn’t it be you?

This stuff isn’t biochemistry or as complicated as some people like to make it. But it takes you putting aside those obstacles and negative thoughts saying you can’t or “won’t.” Before I start telling you “specifics” you gotta change your whole world view of what you think of yourself. What got you here won’t get you there. Who you think you are and what you think you can be.

A very deep and powerful self-realization.

I’ve notice since applying the same drive, consistency and work in fitness in other areas of my life, it has made a difference. If I can dominate in one area of my life (fitness) for years, I can definitely dominate in others. I can basically have a mindset about all areas in my life. I grow and work on myself everyday.

For instance, I started recently writing blog posts on a consistent basis, and now I’m addicted.

You’re not going to get abs the same day you start working out. But you can start today and with consistency, get to higher levels than you ever thought possible.

Most are guilty of instant gratification. They want to start working out and expect to see abs in a week. Or set up a business in two weeks and expect to make $10,000 right away. And if you don’t, you start screaming scam “and it’s not working.” Do you see how pitiful that sounds?

Food Tips:

Did you know that it’s not just the foods you eat, but actually the way you EAT them that matters when it comes to maximum fat-burning?

For example, if you are eating pre-sliced strawberries, the fat-burning vitamin content of these sweet treats can be compromised due to prolonged exposure to oxygen. Instead, when eating strawberries, it’s best to eat them whole (who doesn’t love biting into a juicy strawberry?), or at least wait until you are ready to eat to slice and dice them up. One thing you DON’T want to do is slice them and then store them, consuming them over time, as this will surely reduce the fat-burning power of the great strawberry.

And how about Greek yogurt? When you peel back the lid, you are probably used to seeing some “water” that has settled on the top. Most people dump this down the sink, but this “water” is actually whey that is packed with protein, vitamins, and calcium. Don’t get rid of it! Instead, mix the watery whey back into the yogurt to avoid missing out on Greek yogurt’s fat-burning punch!

Here’s another tip: You may have heard that most fruits and veggies are better consumed raw instead of cooked, as cooking can reduce their vitamin and mineral content. While this is true in many cases, it’s the exact opposite with tomatoes. You see, tomatoes are rich in lycopene, a phytonutrient with many positive health benefits. Unlike other veggies, cooking actually increases concentrations of lycopene in tomatoes, so enjoy tomato sauce, roasted tomatoes, and other cooked dishes with tomatoes more often!
