Miami Blog #17-Downtown Miami Beach

As I mentioned in the last post, I love Miami Beach! The downtown portion is beautiful. Everybody and their momma says I shouldn’t live on the beach because of hurricanes and big bugs.

If this was Indiana, it would be tornadoes and cold weather. Which one would you pick?

My mom is trying to convince me that I will like other parts of Florida (and I know I will) before I pick Miami as home.

It’s hard not to like this place lawdz.

As repeated information from the last article.

I will be visiting Tampa, Key West, Fort Lauderdale, Destin, Orlando, Boca Raton, St Petersburg, Tallahassee, St Augustine, Naples, Florida Keys, Panama City Beach, Panama City, Clearwater, Florida Keys, Jacksonville, basically the whole state. But I gotta explore one city at a time for several months (and will probably still miss certain things haha).

Which Florida city or town would you live in and why? Let me know. I know I’m missing quite a bit (thanks Google for the help lol).

Any ways.

Miami Beach is everything that you’ve seen and heard about. I know you’ve seen those exotic looking beach photos and just dreamed about being at an exotic location with your best friends with sunkissed palm trees over your head.

I will try to describe it to you in this article. And there’s still some areas in Miami Beach that I’m not sure about. Give me about a 6 month rain check and I’ll be able to tell you more.

I noticed the first thing about Miami Beach when setting foot in the area is it’s rich art culture. After looking it up, I realized that a lot of it’s buildings were built in the 1930’s, 1940’s arena. And these throwback hotels are available for booking.

We stopped at the Westgate South Beach hotel to get some ice and the guy there is super nice and courteous. There’s something about being in this area that makes people super happy.

The one area that people kept telling me about was WYNWOOD. Wynwood has a strong art scene. While visiting the W Hotel (which is another great hotel) I connected with several Miami DJ’s that hold local dance practices twice a month. It’s very easy to get sucked into so many different directions because there’s so much do to. But I’ve found my niche of people and my cell phone filled with numbers on the 2nd night of being in Miami by sticking my neck out there.

Besides the DoubleTree Hotel, this is the hotel that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

One thing I like to point out. It’s easy to get on these vacations and start eating like who did it and what for. When I was on the beach, the first thing I was told about was hamburgers and drinking booze (which if my friends know me they know I like to have I made it a point to eat fruits and veggies a few days prior and throughout these trips. And keep some sort of workout regime with drinking plenty of water.
