Stand Out By Not Fitting In

FITTING IN IS OVERRATED.
BE DIFFERENT.
BE WEIRD.
BE ORIGINAL.
BE AN OUTCAST.
Think about most rock stars, comedians and many other great leaders and celebrities.
#stevejobs to #waltdisney to #prince , #kurtcobain or #ladygaga .
THEY WERE DIFFERENT, MISUNDERSTOOD AND DIDN’T FIT IN.
I never drank #alcohol and I remember, as a kid, people would #laugh at me and make #jokes as if I was a loser for not drinking like all of them.
I never felt pressure to drink but I did feel #awkward because I wasn’t doing what everyone else was doing and it felt like I was #odd and while they were all drunk and acting dumb, I was sitting there like, what is happening right now?
At first I felt the need to stay to be part of the crowd and not miss out on, I don’t know, the “cool” party?
Anyhow, it wasn’t long before I found myself being #lonely again because I didn’t want to be around that or looked at as a loser.
When we became adults, I can’t tell you the amount of times those same kids that called me a #loser and were getting #drunk looking like idiots, came up to me and told me how much they admired me and wished they were more like me.
Someone who didn’t feel pressured to do what others were doing or thought was cool.
SOMEONE OK WITH NOT FITTING IN.
I learned that, as it relates to me, what I think is #cool is more important than what someone else thinks.
Why would I, or YOU, let someone else’s opinion of what you like or think is cool supersede your own?
TRUST ME, IT FEELS LONELY AT FIRST BUT…
It will turn from you wanting to be like everyone else to…
EVERYONE ELSE WANTING TO BE LIKE YOU.
WHEN YOU FIT IN, IT’S HARDER TO STAND OUT.
STAND OUT by NOT fitting in.
