The biggest mistakes that business owners make with their product launches.

If these resonate with you, I hope you’ll read on.

The more we stretch into our true power and the less we are affected by the forces that would keep us small, the more we will be challenged. Can we continue to stand in that place? Can we allow others to be in their power and glory and be in ours without going to our own version of diminishing them, belittling them, or competing with them?

Because every time we succumb to that we make ourselves small. Forget our “enemies”, forget the patriarchy, forget our sexist lawmakers. We do it to ourselves.-Amy Jo Goddard

Mistake #1:
Not launching at all because you are afraid of not being liked by friends and family anymore.

Your greatest life is on the other side of your greatest fear.

Give up the toxicity and give up the need to be liked.

People we spend the most time with, add up to who we become.

There are people who are less accomplished in their personal and professional life, and there are people who are more accomplished than us. If you spend time with those who are behind you, your average will go down, and with it, your success.

But if you spend time with people who are more accomplished than you, no matter how challenging that might be, you will become more successful.

Take a look at around you, and see if you need to make any changes.-Zdravko Cvijetic

There’s people who don’t want to see you do well. I wrote about this in a few past articles. Sometimes these people end up being your family and friends.

Are you gonna:

A. Cave in to them because your desire to be liked is so high. Look back at your life and go to your grave in regret? And your idea and successes get buried with it?

B. Go forward and build that business without caring what others think of you. Find people that resonate with you and your vibration.

As soon as I created my businesses, some of my old school friends stopped talking to me. Does this mean stop my businesses, go work at McDonald’s (no offense intended), and beg to fit in? Be small to make them feel more secure about themselves? OF COURSE NOT. I’m creating no matter what. It’s a sign that they weren’t true friends in the first place (because if they were they would be happy for my successes). The way I see it, it’s the universe’s way of getting rid of negativity and replacing it with positivity. I’m not gonna interfere with the vibes, it’s bringing what’s meant for me and what I asked for. I’m sends you a message saying

Universe and God: Hey, these folks were a source of negativity and they were keeping you down. I’m bringing better things to you. Let me work my magic.

Me: Ok do your thing.

The growing number of haters means you are doing important things. They wouldn’t bother you if you were nothing.

“To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.” ― Elbert Hubbard

The choice is yours and you have the power to choose.

Many of us 20 something’s has it real bad. To fit in and go along to get along. Bless those who carve their own trails without fear. 🙏

You’re a free-spirited person with a brain in your head? You will be a huge target for those who settled into the middle-class, sporting a belly and missing their youth. Not my fault THEY listened to society. I could give a rat’s ass.-Steve Bello

Ask yourself:

  • “How might I be doing this in my life or entrepreneurial journey?”
  • “How much would avoiding this mistake save me?”
  • How much could I earn from learning from others that done it before me?

Launches are BIG business breakthroughs that can completely change your business — and your life. To let people sabotage your capacity is not good!

You can earn serious income streams by launching. You can still test other strategies in your business if you like, but not launching at all is a huge mistake.

If you are miserable, people love you for it. Now they have something in common with you. But rise above and be a better person? That’s like throwing fuel on an ongoing fire. I worked with some of the most miserable people at my last job. They hated when I was getting tours and getting press in magazines. Reminded them that they are mundane and useless as a wet bag of hammers. Again, not my fault they catered to the middle class way of life.-Steve Bello

Mistake #2: My launch needs to be 100

Maybe you’re not convinced the copy in your big close is good enough.

Did your second email only drew crickets? No one opened them?

Maybe your 1st subject line didn’t grab people at all!

I had this happen and I still learn about launches regularly!

But I learned and I’m still learning.

Your launch doesn’t need to be perfect. If you’re delivering value, it’s OK to make a mistake. I find that the blog posts that people read have mistakes in them are the ones people go for.

It’s OK to make a mistake. Your funnel will still deliver. Nobody cares if it’s adding value.

Oh I think back to my school days when everybody and their momma thought things had to be a ok perfect before we did something.

Perfectionists hate launches because launches are not easy. They will drag you to the dog fight unless you have a proven system to help you!

Follow someone who’s done it before. Like Ramit. Like Tai. Like Hilary Rushford. Sunny Lenarduzzi or Marie Forleo. Launches are NOT EASY, it’s near impossible to ship a perfect one Following a proven launch model is very helpful. It makes life easier and boosts your results.

Mistake #3: Not Enough Interest In Product

Too many entrepreneurs create a product, put out a service, try to sell a book or open their practice, and wonder why it is so hard to sell. They struggle and think the problem is with their product Usually it isn’t. It is because they tried to sell something before attracting an audience and building up their hunger..-Kim Walsh Phillips

When it comes time to sell, most people just write worthless content. They have no idea how to take their readers through a psychological journey. Or how to persuade and provide value.-Ramit Sethi

Fancy Do-Gooder Tactics.

Heard of:

Messenger Tactics!

FB ads!

Fast-action bonuses!

Ramit calls it Shiny Tactic Syndrome.

Kim Walsh Phillips calls it building up hunger.

But basically it’s the belief that adding complicated technology and tactics to your launches and businesses will turn them into hits.

Have you had a hard time selling a product before seeing if there’s any interest in it first?

The problem isn’t with the product.

It’s usually because you tried to sell something before attracting an audience.

You bolt all of these onto your launches which still don’t sell and you don’t know why. See if there’s interest first.

Grow your clan, have something to give, create interest, and THEN sell — that’s a recipe for success.

Have you noticed that amusement parks (think of your favorite one here) always has gift shop for you to exit through after the ride is over?

Same thing with movie theatres.

They have hot dogs, popcorn, drinks and food right outside the theatre waiting for you.

Because the movie itself attracted a fan base, kept their interest going throughout the movie, and then extended the experience they had at the movie by offering merchandise. Experiences creates connections, and that what keeps your fans supporting you.

Grow your clan, have give, create interest, and THEN sell.

That’s like me trying to go on a headlining tour right now. I don’t have the fanbase that Ariana or Taylor has.

Instead, I should focus on my hometown and the cities around it first.

My small tribe will tell you I’m not salesy. I relate on the fact that I post a bunch of stupid food photos and giving them free content. (Hint, that’s building a connection, and they have asked for my music because of this. I have given them some.)

Mistake #4: Doing the wrong things at the wrong time for your stage of business growth.

Your success comes down to one simple thing:

==> Doing the right things at the right time for your stage of business growth.-Marisa Murgatroyd

Depending on where you are right now in your business, there’s actually a very short, specific list of things you should focus on that will very quickly and easily get you to the next level of growth. Businesses don’t grow by accident. You need a reliable and easy-to-use system for convincing your clan to buy your products.

It’s important to understand that this varies from business to business, and from entrepreneur to entrepreneur. One size doesn’t fit all.

You can’t trick people into buying your courses, music, products, etc. No one's going to come at random and give you money (if you know someone like this share the love). By being yourself, you can be authentic and provide value and make serious sales.

If you are not being yourself and doing the same format, same loud, screaming copy with bait-and-switch headlines, people can see right through this.

Many business owners see these generic emails and think that’s just how it’s done, so they copy that. Now they’re spamming and they have no sales.

You rather have a email that’s calm, it’s measured, and it’s teaching you something as you read the very words.

There’s a very simple way to find and choose the right stuff to focus on that will skyrocket your results in less time and with less effort on your part. As soon as your figure out your system, every successful launch can be used again.

Right now I’m taking a break from my first round of businesses. I’m booking so many acting and music projects right now. So I’m starting over.

Mistake #5: Not Changing Your Scenery

Now… don’t get me wrong.

I love Indianapolis. And I can happily live there, part time.

It’s good to get away. Switch up your scenery. And more importantly place yourself in a new environment.

Because if you spend all your days in the exact same places talking to the exact same people?

It’s easy to get complacent. To accept their lives as “normal.”

And that’s a disaster if you’re trying to grow.

They say your income is the average of the five people you spend the most time with.

If your friends and family are all making 30K a year… that’s cool, IF you’re satisfied with that.

But if you want to make millions? 250,000? What if you want 10 income streams? You wanna make 100 million?

Then you need to put yourself in an place where that is normal.

An environment where everyone around you is looking to be ultra successful.

If you want to be a billionaire and people around you are satisfied with 50,000 a year you are going to clash.

Money isn’t everything, you should not optimize your life for financial net worth.

BUT money is the root problem for you not being able to achieve the highest lifestyle net worth.

Financial problems are one of the biggest reasons for divorce…

People are so stressed and focused on making money they neglect their health…

Some of the best experiences in life require money…

But if you didn’t have to worry about money…

You and your family wouldn’t have worry about bills every month…

You’ll have less stress and more freedom to take care of your health…

You can go anywhere and do anything you want, whenever you want…

So, yes. Money isn’t everything, but you need to know how to make money. To use it as fuel to maximize the other aspects of your life.-Tai Lopez

I enjoy going to music friendly cities and getting more music done.

It seems like every time I go to bigger cities and book a project, I’m running into other entrepreneurs who are running successful businesses and looking to stir up their industries. I’ve ran into many people looking to collaborate.

It’s a difference in the room.

There’s an energy and hunger to it. A constant exchange of ideas.

And just being around that energy drives you into wanting to execute and take action.

Mistake #6:
Wrong Mindset

Knowing that you have a system based money making asset trumps all. Not worrying about money for the rest of your life makes you a real boss. But to get there, you got to work on your money mindset. How do you feel about money and people who have it?

“I think anyone who sells something is scammy and sleazy.”

How can you ever expect to be successful if you secretly think that selling something is a scam? Or that so and so charges wayy too much for their services. Or the famous “Hell I can look it up in the library”.

Unfortunately, what you think about money could hold you back. You will wonder why everyone else is selling millions worth of product and you are crashing and burning.

According to Ramit Sethi, money beliefs are so insidiously powerful. We say things to ourselves like, “I love doing this, why should I charge for it? I don’t want people to think I’m greedy.”

Here’s a David Neagle email that is so good.

Hey there,

When I was growing up, my family had VERY strong feelings about people they viewed as poor and people they viewed as rich.

The poor people were dirt bags and the rich people were greedy bastards.

So I grew up with the message that it would be horrible to be a dirt bag and just as bad to be a greedy bastard.

I’d be ok if I stayed somewhere in the middle. I’d be like my family if I just stayed in the middle. I would belong if I stayed in the middle. People would like me if I stayed in the middle.

But the problem with staying in the middle is that I would have to sacrifice what I desired in my heart.

I had a desire to be wealthy, to help more people and to create experiences for the people I loved that would be life changing for everyone involved.

I couldn’t do that if I stayed in the middle.

Here’s what I want you to do:

  1. Take a close look at the messages you received about money and people of wealth when you were a child.
  2. Make a list.
  3. Spend some time on this.

Chances are that if you have a month of increased income followed by a month or two that are WAY below normal, you have a value conflict going on.

The truth is if you desire to be wealthy, help more people and create fantastic things in your life, the only thing keeping those things from you is…well…YOU.

In a subtle and and gradual way, your money beliefs affects how you make money and attract it.
