When Your Loved Ones Don’t Support Your Entrepreneurial Dreams…
This is another excellent email from Paul in my inbox. Read on if you are not getting support as an entrepreneur. I left it just the way it is. Short and simple but really spot on.
I don’t know about you, but I originally followed the same path that my parents did. I went and got a “secure” 9-to-5 job.
At first, I didn’t question it, because it’s what I saw everyone around me doing.
Then, I started to get restless. I realized I couldn’t do the things I wanted to do. I couldn’t travel like I always dreamed of. I couldn’t afford the material things I wanted.
I realized that, compared to many people in society, my income was low. And I certainly didn’t have freedom, like I saw other people had.
I was sick of not being able to do what I wanted. I decided I wanted to be my own boss.
But my family didn’t see it the same way. They told me I should stop complaining and be happy with what I already had.
If you too are facing pressure from your loved ones to quit your entrepreneurial dreams, DON’T GIVE IN to that pressure. Instead, follow these 4 tips:
1) Have a strong WHY
Whenever you face dissent, or whenever you reach an obstacle in your business, remember why you’re doing this.
For me, it’s being able to travel and do what I want, when I want. I see other people are able to enjoy that kind of life, so why can’t I?
2) Set SMALL goals
When you set big scary goals, like making a million dollars a year, the doubt starts to kick in and sabotage you. You start to believe that your doubters are right.
Instead, set small goals, like making just one sale. When your goals are easy to reach, you start to build confidence. You believe that you CAN do this, and you realize how wrong your doubters really are.
3) Surround yourself with supportive people
If even your closest friends and family members don’t believe you can make money, it’s going to be one of you against several of them. That’s an uphill battle.
But I’m part of a community of THOUSANDS of other entrepreneurs on the same journey as me. My few doubting family members pale in comparison to that.
The point that Paul is trying to make here is to meet and mastermind with fellow entrepreneurs on the same journey. Share ideas with how you are going to grow your business, together.
4) Follow a PROVEN system
The quickest way to prove your doubters wrong is to operate your business based on a proven system. One that other entrepreneurs have already made real money with.
Hello There! I’ve been involved in different businesses in several different capacities from being ceo, coo, co-founder, and more. I’ve learned so much from creating businesses, and I look forward to all the learning experiences I will have from starting new ventures.
With one business I was involved with, we made it possible to install a little device with customized hardware and a SaaS solution implemented to the router, the business owner was able see live data about social media info collected.
With another company, we had professional internet marketing company that focus on digital marketing campaigns, services and jobs such as SEO, PPC, Online Reputation Management, and social media marketing.
With EYT, I oversaw day-to-day operations and keeping the CEO apprised of significant events;Yes I actually talk with my business partner on a daily basis. I created operations strategy and policies; Communicated strategy and policy to employees and interns; Fostering employee alignment with corporate goals; and overseeing human resource management. I also delegate tasks to my team.
My current project is Bones’ Custom Guitar. We create custom guitars for musicians with imported wood. No one Bones’ guitar is the same. We also repair guitars. Jared, my band mate came up with the idea and foundation for Bones’.
Long story cut short. I’ve been playing gigs and booking shoots. My go to guitar, Blu Blu broke during this. When I went to get it repaired in Indy getting it fixed cost way more than the actual cost of the guitar.
It didn’t seem right. After talking with other musicians in Indianapolis, Chicago, Nashville and other cities for second opinions they thought the shop was trying to pull a fast one. So our mission is to offer fair prices for repairs and custom guitars for fellow musicians.
We are both Indy & LA based.
My biggest project currently? I’m also involved in entertainment as an actress, founder, and producer. We are currently producing 2 film projects with one of them having 1 million in financing.
